Zones of regulation
At St John's, we use the Zones of Regulation to help children understand, manage and communicate their emotions. The Zones provide a simple framework that teaches children to recognise how they are feeling and identify strategies that can help them regulate their emotions and behaviour.
Through regular teaching and everyday classroom practice, children learn that all emotions are normal and that different feelings can affect how we learn, interact with others and respond to challenges. By developing these skills, we aim to support children in becoming more self-aware, resilient and ready to learn.
The Zones of Regulation form an important part of our commitment to promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and successful learning for all pupils.
You can come and talk to us anytime about this and we would be happy to talk it through and help you to implement at home if appropriate.
